Hello, I'm Jake.
I am a 4 year old neutered male Yellow Labrador Retriever. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to swim! My foster mom thinks I would make a SUPER dock diving dog! We just haven't had a chance to try it yet. I am up to date on all of my vaccinations and I get heartworm and flea preventatives every month. I am heartworm negative. I am a really big boy, but sometimes people scare me when they move too fast or get too close when I'm not ready. Then I accidentally scare them becasue the only way I know how to tell them they scared me is by barking really loud and jumping in their direction to try and get them to back off. My foster mom has been working really hard to show me that these things are not going to hurt me. She thinks I didn't get to go many places or meet new people when I was a puppy and I have a little bit of a nervous personality, so together those things make new places and new people possibly scary to me until I feel comfortable with them. My foster mom is realy good at it, she stays calm no matter what! She also watches me to see how I'm feeling and when I am relaxed in new situations, she rewards me. She also doesn't ask me to get any closer or let anyone get any closer to me until I am comfortable. That makes me really trust her. Now a lot of times instead of getting scared and reacting I look to her to see if everything is safe and she is always ready to let me know things are ok. It is getting easier all the time. I need a home with someone that is confident and won't get scared if I do. I can be big and loud, but I am just scared and if you stay confident and calm it will help me the most. I like to play fetch and chew big bones. Oh and did I mention I LOVE to swim!
I
would be happiest in a home with a pool or a pond or even a family who goes
boating or fishing alot. I really like kids, they don't scare me like you
might think even though they move fast, but since I am so big it would be
best for me to live with older kids. If you have room in your home and your
heart for me, please contact my foster mom, Amy. You can e-mail her resq@barkparkdogdaycare.com or
call her, 352-796-1888. She hopes to hear from you VERY soon! Thank you,
Love, Jake
